Montana Jones (she/her) is a Detroit-born actor, singer, dancer, and songwriter with a passion for storytelling and community building. Growing up surrounded by the city’s rich art culture, she developed an early love for the performing arts, which has grown into a multifaceted career in theatre, music and marketing.

Montana is currently pursuing a BFA in Drama with a minor in the Business of Entertainment, Media, & Technology (BEMT) at New York University’s Tisch School of the Arts, specializing in Musical Theatre at the New Studio on Broadway–combining her artistic training with a deep understanding of the entertainment industry and marketing. Her studies have included courses in recording music technology, songwriting, and studio practices through NYU’s Steinhardt and Clive Davis Music Program, enhancing her skills as a singer-songwriter and producer. She also brings her expertise to the Tisch Drama social media team as a representative, crafting engaging content for the department.

As a performer, Montana has brought life to roles such as Donkey in Shrek the Musical, Madame in Rodgers & Hammerstein’s Cinderella, Marcy Park in The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee and Sour Kangaroo in Seussical the Musical. She has performed on stages across New York and Michigan, including the Gershwin Theater for the Arts for Autism Benefit Concert. Her versatility as a performer is matched by her skills in jazz, ballet, hip-hop, and contemporary dance, along with stage combat and instrumental abilities in guitar, ukulele and piano.

Beyond her academic and performing pursuits, Montana is the founder of Shoot for the Moon, Land Amongst the Stars, a summer drama program for inner-city youth in Detroit. Launched in 2021 with a $1,500 grant from Cranbrook Schools, the program inspires young artists to find their voices and become leaders in their communities through performing arts exercises, improvisation and ensemble training.

When she’s not performing or producing, Montana is taking [solidcore] classes, volunteering with Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated or geeking out over Glee. Whether on stage, in the classroom or behind the scenes, she is dedicated to creating art that uplifts and inspires.  Testing a new update.
